Yes, except in specific situations where the windows are being replaced on an historic building that has specific regulations. Otherwise, we install double glazed and triple glazed windows.
Safety glass will be a requirement for all doors with glass windows. Low level window openings also require the use of safety glass. In any instance where glazing will be done within 800mm of a floor, safety glass will be required to protect against the weight of someone leaning or falling into this glass.
Safety glass includes a British Standard 6206 kite mark inscribed by the manufacturer.
Opening windows will be necessary for ventilation. The requirements for opening windows are at least the size of the existing opening or not less than 1/20th of the floor area of a room. These opening windows will be necessary for ventilation in rooms with boilers or gas fires.
You should consider what will need to be done to clean the windows. Is a ladder needed or is the window opener easy to reach? Would ‘tilt and turn windows’ be better?
All old uPVC installations that we replace are recycled using the UK’s leading uPVC recycler.
There is actually no difference between the two abbreviations. They both stand for Un-plasticised Poly Vinyl Chloride.
