The Extra Room That Doesn't Feel Like an Extension

Ask anyone in Suffolk what they'd do with a bit more space, and the answer usually involves light: a reading spot that catches the morning sun, a dining room that opens to the garden, somewhere to sit on a bright January day without putting a coat on. That's what a well-designed conservatory gives you — and it's why we've been designing and building them from our Newmarket base since 1980, for homes across Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds, Ely, Haverhill and throughout Suffolk and Essex.

There's no single "right" conservatory — there's the right conservatory for your home. A pretty Victorian bay suits a period cottage; a crisp lean-to suits a bungalow; a brick-built orangery can look like it was always part of the house. That's why every project starts with a free design survey: our consultant visits, looks at your roofline, your garden's aspect and how you actually want to use the room, and designs around all three. Modern energy-efficient glazing means today's conservatories are comfortable all year — and if you want the ultimate four-seasons room, we can build yours with an insulated warm roof from day one.

Every conservatory and orangery is built by our own team — never subcontractors — and protected by our 10-year guarantee, with FENSA certification covering the glazed installation.

Choose Your Conservatory Style

Six styles, one promise: it will suit your home. Browse the range below — each card tells you what the style is and which homes it works best on — then talk it through with our design consultant at your free survey.

Most Popular

Victorian Conservatory

The classic. A curved, multi-faceted bay front and elegant pitched roof — often finished with ornate ridge detailing — give the Victorian its unmistakable period charm, while the rounded shape softens the join between house and garden from every angle.

Best for: period and traditional homes, and anyone who wants the timeless "picture book" conservatory look with panoramic garden views.
Best Value

Lean-to Conservatory

Clean, contemporary and wonderfully practical. A simple single-pitch roof "leans" against the house, making the most of every square metre — and because the roof pitch is adjustable, it fits neatly under low eaves where other styles can't.

Best for: bungalows, modern homes and properties with restricted height — and the most budget-friendly way into conservatory living.
Maximum Light

Gable Conservatory

Grand by design. The front of the roof doesn't slope back — it rises to a full triangular gable, like the end of a house — flooding the room with light and creating a real sense of height and space inside. A statement piece for the right home.

Best for: homes with generous eaves height and homeowners who want maximum ceiling height, light and a touch of grandeur.
Two Rooms in One

P-Shaped Conservatory

Why choose one style when you can combine two? The P-shape pairs a lean-to section with a Victorian-style bay, creating two natural zones under one roof — a dining area flowing into a lounge, or a playroom beside a quiet reading corner.

Best for: larger and detached homes, and families who want distinct living zones — dining plus lounging — in a single light-filled space.
The Grand Design

T-Shaped Conservatory

The most architectural of the classic styles. A central section projects out into the garden from a wide main body, forming a "T" — creating a striking centrepiece porch effect and a natural focal point looking straight down the garden.

Best for: larger properties with wide rear elevations, where the projecting centre section can become a dramatic garden-facing focal point.
The Premium Choice

Orangery

Halfway between a conservatory and a full extension. Brick piers and a flat perimeter roof frame a glazed roof lantern in the centre, giving you solid walls for radiators, sockets and furniture — with a column of natural light pouring in from above.

Best for: homeowners who want a permanent-feeling extension — a kitchen-diner or family room — with the light of a conservatory and the solidity of brick.

Want to use it every day of the year?

Any of our conservatory styles can be built with — or upgraded to — an insulated warm roof, turning a sunny room into a true all-seasons living space that's warm in January and cool in July.

Lead Times

Design Survey to Completion: 6–8 Weeks on Average

Every conservatory is designed and manufactured for your home, so from your free design survey to a finished room our average timeline is 6 to 8 weeks. Here's how it works: we survey and finalise the design, confirm any planning or building-control requirements, complete the base and groundworks, and then build — the on-site construction itself typically takes one to three weeks depending on the style. Orangeries, bespoke designs and projects needing planning consent can take longer, and we'll always give you an honest, tailored timeline at quotation stage.

Conservatory Price Guide

The prices below are honest, indicative ranges for a typical fully installed conservatory including the base, construction and glazing — no hidden extras. Your exact quote depends on size, style, roof choice (glass or insulated warm roof), groundworks and finishes, which is why every project starts with a free design survey.

Frequently Asked Questions

What styles of conservatory do you build?
We design and install six main styles from our Newmarket base: Victorian conservatories with a classic curved bay front, practical Lean-to conservatories, high-roofed Gable conservatories, spacious P-Shaped and T-Shaped combination designs, and brick-and-glass Orangeries. Every conservatory is designed around your home during a free design survey, so if you're not sure which style suits your property, we'll help you decide.
Which conservatory style is right for my home?
As a rule of thumb: a Lean-to suits bungalows and homes with limited height under the eaves; a Victorian or Gable suits most period and family homes; P-Shaped and T-Shaped designs suit larger properties that want two living zones in one space; and an Orangery suits homeowners who want something closer to a solid extension, with brick piers and a lantern roof. Our design consultant will look at your home's roofline, garden aspect and how you plan to use the room before recommending a style.
Do I need planning permission for a conservatory in Suffolk?
Most conservatories fall under Permitted Development and do not need planning permission, provided they stay within limits on size, height and position — for example, not extending beyond half the garden or above the existing roofline. Listed buildings and conservation areas have stricter rules. Our surveyor will check your property's situation during your free design visit and handle any applications that are needed.
Can a conservatory be used all year round?
Yes — modern conservatories are a world away from the freezing-in-winter, boiling-in-summer rooms of the past. Energy-efficient glazing, insulated frames and solar-control glass keep temperatures comfortable, and for the ultimate year-round room we can fit an insulated warm roof, either on a new conservatory or as an upgrade to an existing one. See our Warm Roofs page for details.
How long does a conservatory take to build?
From your design survey to completion, a typical conservatory averages 6 to 8 weeks, depending on the style, groundworks and any planning requirements. The on-site build itself usually takes one to three weeks. We'll give you an honest, tailored timeline with your quotation.
What areas do you build conservatories in?
We are based in Newmarket and build conservatories and orangeries across all surrounding areas including Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds, Ely, Haverhill, Newmarket, Rushmere St Andrew, and throughout Suffolk and Essex. If you're unsure whether we cover your area, call 01638 591 638.
Are your conservatories guaranteed?
Yes. Every conservatory and orangery we build comes with our comprehensive 10-year installation guarantee, and we are FENSA registered and GGF certified, so the glazed elements of your installation are certified as compliant with UK building regulations.
