The Door Your Home Deserves

Your front door works harder than anything else in your home. It's the first thing guests see, the last thing you lock at night, and it faces down every gale that blows off the Suffolk coast. A good composite door does all of that beautifully — the warmth and character of timber, the toughness of a modern engineered slab, and none of the sanding and repainting. It's comfortably the most popular door we fit from our Newmarket base, in homes across Kesgrave, Ipswich, Woodbridge, Felixstowe and throughout Suffolk and Essex.

We install composite doors built on the DoorCo slab — one of the UK's most respected composite door manufacturers — fabricated for us by Emplas, who mount every door in a reinforced Profile 22 Optima outerframe with local thickening at the lock points for extra resistance to attack. Every door comes in a Secured by Design specification as standard, with a 3-star Kitemark diamond-grade cylinder and a multi-point lock that works with the Kubu smart security system, so you can check your door is locked from your phone. There are two slab options — the foam-filled ORiGINAL and the premium solid-feel GRiPCORE — and hundreds of style, colour and glass combinations on top.

Every installation starts with a free, no-obligation survey, is protected by our 10-year guarantee, and is FENSA-certified for building regulations compliance.

Choose Your Door

With so many combinations, choosing is easier than it looks — there are really just three decisions. First, pick your core: ORiGINAL or GRiPCORE (compared below). Second, pick your style collection. Third, have fun with colour, glass and hardware — and our consultants and showroom samples will help with all three.

Step 1a — Our Standard Core

DoorCo ORiGINAL

DoorCo's market-leading foam-filled door and the benchmark most other composite doors are measured against. An insulating PU foam core sits inside a laminated-timber subframe, wrapped in virtually unbreakable reinforced GRP skins — so it stays warm, secure and handsome for decades with nothing more than a wipe down.

GlazingDouble or triple glazed, PAS 24-tested FLiP cassette
In plain English: warm, tough and beautiful — everything a great front door should be, at a price that suits most budgets.
Step 1b — Our Premium Core

DoorCo GRiPCORE

For homeowners who want a door that feels like a bank vault and closes with a satisfying, solid thunk. GRiPCORE's UK-first hybrid core layers PIR foam and HDF plywood between two sheets of aluminium, making the door heavier, stiffer and more thermally efficient than any standard composite — and DoorCo guarantees it won't bow or twist by more than 3mm in ten years.

In plain English: the strongest, warmest, most solid-feeling composite door you can buy — the one to choose if only the best will do.

Step 2: Pick Your Style Collection

Every door design falls into one of three collections. Whichever you choose, you can then personalise it with your colour (dual colours inside and out are available), decorative or obscure glazing, side panels, and hardware finishes.

Traditional

Classic panelled designs with deep mouldings and realistic woodgrain, made to replicate the most-loved timber doors. Perfect for period homes in Woodbridge or a Victorian terrace in Ipswich.

Contemporary

Clean flush faces, long slim glazing and modern colours. Ideal for new builds and anyone giving a tired frontage a fresh, minimal look.

Designer

DoorCo's exclusive statement doors — the Links with its etched aluminium-style finish, and the Monza II with striking linear panels and book-matched woodgrain. For doors that turn heads.

Lead Times

Survey to Installation: 8–10 Weeks

Every door is made to your exact opening and specification, so from your free survey to installation day our current lead time is 8 to 10 weeks. Here's how it works: we survey and confirm final measurements, your door goes into production, and we book your installation date — the fitting itself usually takes less than a day, with your old door removed and your home left secure and spotless the same afternoon. Bespoke paint colours or special glass designs can occasionally extend this, and we'll always give you an honest timeline at quotation stage.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the ORiGINAL and GRiPCORE composite doors?
Both are manufactured by DoorCo and fabricated for us by Emplas in a reinforced Profile 22 Optima outerframe. The ORiGINAL is DoorCo's market-leading foam-filled door: a 44mm slab with an insulating PU foam core, an LVL timber subframe for strength, and virtually unbreakable reinforced GRP skins — it is warm, secure and suits most homes and budgets. GRiPCORE is the premium upgrade: a UK-first hybrid timber-foam core made of layered PIR foam and HDF plywood compressed between two sheets of aluminium, making the door noticeably stronger, heavier and more rigid — DoorCo guarantees it will not bow, twist or move by more than 3mm over its 10-year warranty. If you want the most solid-feeling, most thermally efficient door available, choose GRiPCORE; if you want outstanding everyday performance at a friendlier price, the ORiGINAL is superb.
What styles and colours of composite door can I choose from?
There are hundreds of possible combinations. Door styles fall into three collections: Traditional, with moulded panels and realistic woodgrain that replicates classic timber doors; Contemporary, with clean flush and linear designs; and Designer, including the Links etched aluminium-look door and the striking Monza II with book-matched woodgrain detail. You then choose your colour — including dual colours, so the outside can differ from the inside — your decorative or obscure glazing, side panels if you have room, and hardware in a range of finishes. Our showroom in Newmarket has samples to see and touch, and we'll happily help you narrow the choice at your free design consultation.
How long does installation take from order?
Our current lead time from survey to installation is 8 to 10 weeks. Every door is made to your exact opening size and specification, so after your survey we confirm the final measurements, place the order, and book your installation date. Fitting a composite door usually takes less than one day, and the old door is removed and your home left secure and tidy the same day.
How secure are your composite doors?
Extremely. Every door is tested to PAS 24 in line with Approved Document Q and supplied in a Secured by Design specification — the police-backed security standard. That includes a 3-star British Kitemark TS007 cylinder that is anti-drill, anti-snap, anti-bump and anti-pick, rated SS312 Sold Secure Diamond Grade, plus a multi-point locking system with steel hook bolts. The lock also works with the Kubu smart security system as standard, so you can check from your phone whether your door is locked, wherever you are.
What is better: a composite door, uPVC door or timber door?
It depends on your priorities, but composite doors have become the most popular choice for good reason. They give you the depth and character of a timber door without the repainting, warping or swelling; the GRP skin is highly scratch-resistant and just needs an occasional wipe down. They are around 20 per cent more thermally efficient than a traditional solid timber door, reduce outside noise by an average of 31dB, and out-perform standard uPVC doors on rigidity, security and kerb appeal. A uPVC panel door remains a cost-effective option for back doors, and we can quote for both so you can compare.
What areas do you install composite doors in?
We are based in Newmarket and install across all surrounding areas including Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds, Ely, Haverhill, Newmarket, Rushmere St Andrew, and throughout Suffolk and Essex. If you're unsure whether we cover your area, call 01638 591 638.
Are your composite doors guaranteed?
Yes. Every installation comes with our comprehensive 10-year installation guarantee, and we are FENSA registered so your installation is certified as compliant with UK building regulations. GRiPCORE doors additionally carry DoorCo's 10-year warranty, including their guarantee that the door slab will not bow, twist or move by more than 3mm in that time.

Cannot recommend Micron enough. Honest advice on which door suited our exposed position near the sea, and the finish around the frame is immaculate.
