The glass explained

Planitherm Comfort glass has a special crystal clear, microscopic coating on the inner pane of the glass which allows more light and heat into the room, capturing the warmth from natural daylight. In addition to this, there is a built-in transparent layer which makes Comfort glass much tougher to break through than standard, unlaminated glass. Ideal for bedrooms or street-facing rooms, the layer also provides 20% better noise reduction than older-style double glazing**, so a good night’s sleep is a given.

It stops 56% more internal heat escaping** and can even protect furniture from fading, blocking 99% of damaging UV rays***.

What is a U-value?

A U-value is a measure of how quickly heat transfers through a building material or element of a house e.g. a wall, a window, a roof. The lower the U-value of an element of a building's fabric, the more slowly heat is able to transmit through it, and so the better it performs as an insulator

Old single-glazed windows can have U-values of around 5.8 W/m2K, and older double-glazed windows can be around 2.8. U-values are now much lower, and typically a good U-value for replacement windows is anything below 1.6 W/m2K. Our windows (glass and frame) are rated 1.2 U-value!
